I'm Alive!

I'm listening to Sia's "Alive" as I type this blog post. Using her shouting words, "I'm Alive!" seemed suitable for this post. Since it has almost been a whole month since I've last written in my blog. I've done some tweaks on the rest of my website, but I've been absent on my blog.

You know me, busy with the job search and continuing to do my illustrations (which reminds me, I need to update my illustrations page. But if you follow me on Instagram: @gabthechief you can see my works in progress and the stories I publish on my feed).

I went exploring on Sunday. I went to Belle Isle by myself and went to the aquarium and conservatory. I never go anywhere by myself most of the time, mostly because I love being with someone close to me and talking in between my photographing what my eyes are attracted to. But Sunday, after church, I just needed the alone time. The service really touched me and I missed photographing things. It's been a while and I just needed to find my muse again. I've always love photographing but I've been so focused on illustrating I feel like I've abandoned a piece of me. I especially felt this way because fall is my favorite season and I haven't done too much to show my appreciation of it with my camera. This immediately had to be rectified.

That's why it was so nice to go to the aquarium by myself and to the conservatory. I've never been there before and Sunday felt like the perfect opportunity. I feel like everyone else there needed to be in the quiet, too. All of us were walking at our own pace and I didn't feel like I needed to rush or worried I'd be left behind. It felt perfect for me. It felt like that piece of me wasn't lost after all. It was the perfect fall day.

Below are some of the photos I've taken. Some will be shared on my 500px and Instagram accounts. I can't wait!
